My favorite motivational videos for crossfitting, marathon running and work

I might be taking a bit of a different approach than most of the motivational videos you would normally look at, if you look at them at all. I am a big fan of the YouTube channel "The journey of purpose". It gives you perspective on what really matters in life. Rather than someone shouting at you, listening to heavy metal, techno or rap while doing my workout or tackle those next 10 cold calls, i like to take ten deep breaths and think about

  • Why am I doing this ?
  • What would i do if I had just one more day ?
  • Am i giving it my all ?
  • When i focus, i am able to do this!

For this purpose I have three videos I particularly like.

I love "dream" as it reminds you that the hard times won't last and that reaching your goals is never easy. You have to believe that you can do it, because otherwise no one else will. This is a never ending pursuit while you are alive. Forget about your fears and what others say. Make up your mind what you want and than rip its head off.

"You will never ever be the best copy cat in the world" is a very statement which should be taught in school. School focuses too much on making you a copycat and it most of the times continues on into university.

The second video I would like to highlight is the compilation if speeches of Will Smith. You might think it is cheesy, but it is all very true. The core messages are:

  1. -Success is simple, you just have to want it
  2. "The separation of "The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel - Talent you have naturally - Skill is developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft" BOOM
  3. "Being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocrity" DOUBLE BOOM

Watch it again and again if you want to make your life better and then get up and do something about it.

The third video looks at the importance of money and how to follow your heart. The points are very valid and take courage to be adhered to. However, it will be freeing you to start thinking big dreams and living them.

How does all of this relate to crossfit, marathon running and work ? I was told that it is not possible to run a marathon in 3.30 with just 6 months of training. I started training and ran it in 3:58. I was told that there was no money to be made in Ireland, now I have a well paid job. I thought that i would find my happiness and love in Germany yet I found it far away in Ireland from my home town, my old school friends and the place I buried my mother. You can do it, if you can dream it. I thoroughly believe that and my life took a turn for the better since I did. Have faith and reap the awards, I personally do not care what you have faith in, as long as you have faith in something.
