Overview of the Alpha 15 package

To structure your gym the 15 alpha package includes the I 44 Infinity rig, 8 Squat stands, 3 barbell holders, 6 GH1 Abrams, 10 concept 2 model d rowers and 10 utility benches. This gives you the possibility to reproduce most of the core scenarios of CrossFit while also providing enough equipment to run two different groups at the same time. Make sure that you have the floor space to fit all of the equipment before you order. Also, think about how you will arrange things and get your measurements right. You can avoid hassle and frustration with your clients if you think about the layout a bit longer before you hit the buy button.

The rogue 15 Alpha package gives you 25 barbells in total including 2000LB of bumper plates. This completes a set which can comfortably run a class of 15 CrossFit athletes in parallel. This holds even true for the most complex WODs which need the most equipment. Kettlebells, climbing ropes, Jump boxes, Abmats, speed ropes, and slam balls are also included for all your conditioning needs.

In more recent years the CrossFit games have also introduced treadmill, cycling, and skierg events. Of course, this is aimed at selling you more stuff to train with for the games. Just watch what is en vogue and get in touch with Rogue whether you can swap some of the material for alternatives. As an example, you can make use of the concept 2 package deal for having more variety for conditioning needs. Also depends on whether you want all your classes to be highly competitive or not. The more you want to stress the competitive streak the more homogenous the provided gear needs to be.

Keep an eye on storage options for the extra material you put in your gym as this is not included in the price tag of the 15 Alpha package. This might add another 2000 to your order to have everything nice and neat in boxes or hanging on the walls.

Items of the Rogue Alpha 15 package

(2) 1000LB ROGUE HG Bumper set for a total of 2000LB of Bumpers - You choose the weights you want up to 2000LB

Bumper plates are the workhorses of any CrossFit outfit. They take a beating, can be dropped from overhead, cheap and relatively unforgiving on feet and hands. The two downsides of bumpers are that they have more tolerance to be heavier or lighter than stated on the plate and that you can not fit a lot of weight on the bar. You might want to get a set of 6 - 8 metal reds to accommodate your strongest gym members and the odd powerlifter. If the budget is not of concern swap them for calibrated and competition plates

(15) Ohio Bar - Black Zinc Shaft, Bright Zinc Sleeves - 28.5MM Bar with Dual Knurl - Guaranteed for Life!

The Ohio Bar is the all-purpose workhorse from Rogue. It is the best value for money bar you can get from them. If you want a bit of extra touch to your gym you might want to look at the FraserFroningToomey and other editions of the bar. This way you could get some color into your gym. If you are going for a CrossFit establishment this is the right bar for the masses for all purposes. If you have some Olympic weightlifters joining your ranks you might want to look into the Pyrros bar or Euro bar to mix things up a little.

(5) ROGUE Bella Bar - 25.0MM Women’s Bar with Dual Knurl

The Bella bar is the 15kg variation on the Rogue Ohio bar for women. It fulfills the standards of the smaller bars for women to use. Of course, the stronger gender is always welcome to work with the bigger plates and bars.

(5) ROGUE 15LB Technique Bar - The Go to bar for technique training, the same distance between collars as competition bars

The technique bars will help with training beginner in the Olympic lifts. You might also want to get a couple of technique bumpers as they are not included in this pack.

(3) Rogue 9 Bar Holders

With the three 9 bar holders, you get 27 slots to store. You can also look at the gun racks or hangers from Rogue if you prefer to store the barbells on the walls.

(1) 500LB Rogue Kettlebell Set - Choose your own variants up to 500LB

Be careful on how you pick these. If you run a gym to make money you might be better off choosing the weights lower than you deem appropriate at first. You should be stronger than your clients. Think of them, not yourself.

(25) Sets of Rogue HG 2.0 Collars

With these Collars, you can lock all of your barbells for Olympic lifts and general safety. If you want to try something different you can also look at the boa collars.

(15) Set of ROGUE Wood Rings

These wood rings come with the straps to attach them to your rig. This might not be ideal for ring muscle ups. If you want to do those, be prepared to have the rings anchored somewhere in the ceiling.

(15) Rogue Medicine Ball - Can choose the weight up to 20LB

The good old medicine balls can be used for wall throws or to be slammed onto people to train their abs. I would only recommend the latter for your most advanced athletes, otherwise, people might sue you or think you are a sadist.

(10) Rogue D- Ball /Slam Ball- Can choose the weight up to 30LB

Slam balls are great as they have one particular advantage over medicine balls. They don’t bounce back in your face after a slam.

(5) 25' x 1.5" Climbing Rope with Eyelet - No bracket required

For this item, you have to consider your ceiling height. If you don’t have the facilities for proper climbing may be asked to have these swapped to battle ropes.

(15) Games Multi Side Boxes with 20" / 24" / 30" Sides

Boxes are always a good piece of equipment to have in a CrossFit box. Although I have sustained some of my worst injuries from them. Be careful.

(8) S-1 Squat/Press Stands

These should keep your powerlifters at bay. You might want to consider swapping these to yokes instead to have more options in your gym.

(6) Rogue GH-1 Abram GHD

The GHD can be used for ball throws and working on your core. A versatile machine which most of your clients won’t use as they feel intimated by it.

(10) Rogue Flat Utility Bench

Yes, we also need benches. You might want to also look into swapping two or three of these into adjustable benches.

(1) I-44 Infinity Rig - Now you can get pull-ups and squat racks with the same unit

The infinity series is the least costly range of Rigs which Rogue sells. If you want something more sturdy look into the monster lite and monster rigs.

(15) Rogue SR-3 Speed Rope

This is the middle of the range jump rope from Rogue. There are some newer models with better bearing.

(15) Abmat

Normal sit-ups are not enough. The Abmat makes crunching even better and harder.

(10) Concept 2 Model D with PM5 Rower

This is a solid rower model which has been around for years. When talking to customer services you might want to ask if two or three of these could be swapped to a Model E. The model E is sturdier and has the seat located higher. This makes it easier for big athletes or someone who trains to get into the rower.

(1) Rogue Echo Gym Timer

The ultimate torture device. Have fun with it.

Pros of the Alpha 15 package

The 15 Alpha package gives you everything you need to start a Crossfit box in which you can have classes with 15 people in parallel. You might be able to even get more out of it. The necessary equipment is provided and you will have some flexibility with squat stands to move things around. You will also get all the little bits and bits like slam balls, medicine balls and jump ropes in one delivery. Nothing to be sneered at, as clicking it all together or collecting it over time can be a hassle. This is a great one-click shop to get your affiliate started.

Cons of the Alpha 15 package

This 15 package assumes that you will copy the workouts form the earlier CrossFit games and that you will have all of your classes do the same things at the same time. If your classes are set up as competitions between 10 - 15 individuals every single time that is fine. If you want more variety, you might want to swap some of the items for other machines and conditioning equipment. The GH1 Abrams will take up quite a bit of floor space. Definitely, check your floor space before committing to suck a big package of equipment.

Summary of the Alpha 15 package

The Rogue Alpha 15 package is meant for serious establishments with the necessary floor space. You will have all of the necessary equipment to run classes with 15 people attending, three times a day, to get them from starter to CrossFit Champion level. This will be majorly on classic WoDs than on the newer ones, as these use some of the most recent equipment from the games.
