1. The great fitness experiment
Charlotte is a mother of four who contributes to the Huffington Post, iVillage, Redbook magazine and Blogher. As a mother of four in her thirties and having lost one of her children she takes a real life approach to fitness with a little bit of fun and wackiness. She used to be a teacher before she moved on to grading SAT essays from home. Her take on fitness is to take what has been tested mostly on mice and do it herself or together with a bunch of others to see whether it actually works on humans.
2. Carla Birnberg
Carla blogs since 2001 and launched MiyFit Online in 2007 to share her knowledge about fitness with others. Because of her activities she has been published in Woman's Day, Fast Company, Wall Street Journal, Experience life, Ladies Home Journal, ivillage.com, Glamour, Women's Health and Greatist. (quite a long list, no? And yes, if you go to her website, there is more.) Her blog talks about the challenges of a woman, travel and lifestyle. The most recent fitness tips are related to her running her first marathon.

4. Lifting makes me happy
Mindi Friedland is a full-time office manager and blogger and somewhere manages to fit in a husband and four children. At the age of fifteen, she was diagnosed with clinical depression after experiencing sexual assault. In her opinion, this was only a trigger for a condition which she was hard wired for based on her family background. Exercising helps her battling her inner demons and she shares her stories on her blog with a focus on mums and females. Her blog started out in 2008 as a mere track record of her workouts but since then has developed into a bigger community of people who share their thoughts around how to battle depression.
5. Running of the Reese's
Cely started her blog in 2010 and whilst being hacked in 2014 she still keeps going on a regular basis. She ran the Chicago Marathon in 2010 and is preparing for another one now in 2017 after winning the lottery for the Big Sur International Marathon. Originally from texas, she now lives with her sister in California to make the best of it and likes the wine and cheese (I don't blame her). Being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when she was 18 she is still going strong and making the best of it. Go Cely!

9. Cranky fitness
Jan Graham runs crank fitness together with her female better half. The blog is around for ten years now and still counting. While not taking itself too serious Jan provides insight on life, health and all other topics which interest her and her life partner who mainly takes care of the picture department. If you like some sarcasm and irony away from the way too beautiful food Nazis on Instagram this might be the place for you. Cranky fitness openly tells you: Healthy living is a pain in the ass. How refreshing, thanks.
10. Workout mommy
Behind workout mommy is Linda, a mother of four who chose a life as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, marathon runner and overall fitness junkie. She started her blog in 2007 after the birth of her second son and now is a mother of four. This lady is strong and surrounded by men in her own household. Being one of these lazy creatures myself I would definitely recommend to check out how she gets everything in her busy schedule as an ISSA certified personal trainer.
11. Chic runner
Danica is a runner from the Los Angeles area with husband and a daughter who works as a track and field coach. The blog started in 2008 and since then Danica has run multiple marathons and even managed to qualify for the Boston Marathon (a feat I still have to pull off).
She stopped running when her mother died in her junior year of college. A similar experience to mine has my mother passed away in 2007. If you want to read more about who are active in their local community to make lives better this is definitely worth a read.
12. Running diva Mom
Running Diva Mom started out in 2005 after watching a friend in an Ironman race in Wisconsin. Also a goal I still have on my list to achieve.(not watching but actually doing an Ironman). It seems like most of the fitness mommies around started their blogs somewhat ten years ago and Running Diva Mom is no difference with a start date of 2009. During her experience and getting more involved in helping others achieve their running and life goals she became a road runners coach of America certified coach. Zou can reach out to her via runningdivamom@yahoo.com if you want to balance family, life and active lifestyle as she does.
13. Jill will run
Jill is a professional web worker who lives together with her husband and boxer and started blogging in 2001. Jill will run itself exists since to 2008 to share her experiences around races and fighting her eating disorder Anorexia Nervosa. She is a certified Road Runners Club of America coach and gave back to the community by coaching 4 seasons for Team Challenge. She ran her first marathon in January 2008.
What I particularly like about her is how open she is with her vulnerability due to the eating disorder and how this is being related to being alone a lot in a new environment. There definitely parallels to be drawn to my experience when I moved out of home although I coped with playing poker rather than controlling my body weight and food intake with obsession.
On this blog you will also find how to cope with a did not finish due to a fall and completing a marathon together with your mom which I personally think are rare experiences which are so openly shared on the internet. Have a look and maybe drop her a note. If struggle with eating disorder yourself Jill might know how to come it and where to find help like an Intensive Outpatient Program.
14. The fitness sista
Gina also more commonly know as the fitness sista has two little daughters and lives together with her husband who is a pilot. With that, it seems that they change location quite a bit so she also has been around the block and you might be able to reach out to her on social to ask her about living in Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona or California.
She is certified as a fitness coach in multiple associations and trades and you can see the full list over at her website. The blog itself is less about running compared to the ones before and focuses more on workouts which you can do at home and recipes you can cook which are healthy. Gina also tried several eating regimes and might, therefore, have one or two tricks up her sleeve you don’t know about when you just start out on this health journey.

Nerd fitness is a website I got introduces to by my fiancée first. Steve Kamb managed to build a big community around people with desk jobs who like comics and everything about the marvel & DC universe. If you happen to like Lord of the rings and Dungeons and Dragons just like me you came to the right spot at Nerd Fitness. The website does not take any particular take on fitness and provides information on everything that could possibly make you fitter. Yoga, weightlifting, Frisbee, running you name it and they possibly will have something about it. Great to see that a side project of one nerd became a business supporting ten employees and a big community without being too pumped or glossed up. If you want to learn more here is some content from their website for you.

Born fitness has a following of 50 million people and very good and honest content around fitness. He explains his time as a wrestler in high school, college, how depression from a failed relationship in his teenage years kept him from gains and camaraderie at the gyms he trains. It is interesting to read about the bond with his older brother and grandfather who kept him close to Isreal where he won his first competition. On his website, you can find anything you need from diet to training and attitude to become an honest, heavy lifting muscle beast. Check him out and you won’t be disappointed as this is as far away from the fake corporate machine as you can possibly get.
57. Catalyst Athletics
Catalyst Athletics is the website of the USA weightlifting National champion team and was founded by Greg Everett in 2006. Everett himself is one of the most well-known resources on the topic of Olympic weightlifting with his book Olympic Weightlifting: A complete guide for coaches and athletes which I also own. The first issue was released in 2005. The goal of the team and website is to provide the knowledge and methods to set new records, win Olympic medals and further the cause of Olympic weightlifting for the USA and in the world.

60. Barbell Shrugged
Barbellshrugged is one of my personal favourites amongst the CrossFit related blogs and podcasts. The humour and the travelling are great infotainment and because of the big following the three guys always manage to get the most interesting trainers and athletes in front of the camera. You will find content geared towards powerlifting, mobility, CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting. I especially recommend the Episodes with Jim Wendler and Louie Simmons.
61. Mobility WOD
As the name suggests mobilitywod was created as a platform to help prevent injuries related to the sport of CrossFit based on the observations of their founders. Repeatedly they saw that the same shortcomings in mobility hindered progress at best and resulted in an injury that puts you out of training at worst. Based on these insights they started a yearlong project to document progress and the most common drills to fix bad movement patterns and the result is mobilitywod. If you are struggling like me with your ankle mobility to squat ass to grass, this is the place to go.
62. Mentality WOD
Dawn who runs mentilatywod has been named one of the top 30 most influential Health Bloggers. She backs up this claim with a Masters degree in Kinesiology and a truckload of testimonials of very driven CrossFit athletes who use the coaching services provided. She graduated in 2010 and looking at all of these talented people for this post I see that I have a lot of catching up to do. Sorry to go off topic, but I got my thirties cut out for me ;). Visit mentalitywod to see how you can run your own business and do what you love straight out of college.

65. Scoobys workshop
Scooby is in his mid-fifties and has an excellent body. After training like a madman in the weight rooms of the earth in his thirties and forties he accepts the fact that it is very hard for a man this age to put on more mass and maintains his physique. His goals changed to athleticism and endurance and he recently finished a 200-mile bike race and a half Ironman. Big respect for Scooby and maybe someone you can relate to if you do not have the advantage of natural testosterone boosts anymore.
66. A shot of Adrenaline
