Disadvantages of Stronglifts 5x5

My personal take on it

Based on 10 month on 5x5

  • Lacks form correction
    • While available via the Stronglifts 5x5 site you are unlikely to follow through, especially as a beginner
  • Makes you fail
    • You make very fast gains on the program the trade off is that you will hit a wall. The program is designed to make you fail
  • Too much too quick
    • Of you use the app without professional guidance you will be lead to cheat yourself
  • Not designed for you
    • If you have specific weaknesses in your posterior chain 5x5 will not adress those
  • 3 Squat days
    • If you are an intermediate lifter squatting 1.5 times bodyweight this might be too much volume
