Running faster takes time and dedication. First thing you want to ask yourself is what your current level of fitness is. Start out with testing your personal best for

50m / 100m sprint
1 mile / 5 km run 

Depending on your current fitness level. If you are overweight and can not run for any sustained time do not be disheartened. Set yourself the goal to get to walk for 20 minutes without resting inbetween. One step at a time.

I do a lot of excercising like yoga, weightlifting and crossfit. All have their uses, but if you want to lose weight the fastest I recommend doing three things right now

Stop drinking alcohol
Get out to run every second day for a 30 minute run
Sign up for a local race in 6 months time to train towards
