When to start Wendler 531

What is Wendler ?

Skip this if you are a rugelar reader of my blog ;). Jim Wendler is a lifting program for intermediates who want to develop general strength. It utilises the deadlift, squat, bench press & overhead press to develop strength in the gym. These lifts are performed in sets of five, three and singles. When to start Wendler 531

As it is an intermediate program it is usually not the first lifting scheme you start with. Run a beginner program first or wait until your current program does not give you anymore gains until you switch to Wendler 531. I ould place it after a Madcow 5x5 or Texas Method cycle, if you follow the lifting programs of Stronglifts 5x5 and Starting Strength.
