Will powerlifting get me ripped?
What is your why
Before we go I think the details of whether
powerlifting will get you ripped, let me ask you a couple of questions:
These questions have a big impact on your success and failure. Research shows that people who reflect with the intent on their goals are more likely to achieve them. Sit down, grab a pen and write the answers to these questions down. Most people go about their lives like this:
-
What do I want
-
How do I want to get it
-
Why do I want it
This mindset leads to trouble. What you want changes hundreds of times a day. If you constantly focus on what you want you will run in a hundred directions and arrive nowhere. Your resources will be spread thin and your time will be scattered. This will lead you to feel unfulfilled and miserable. Something interesting happens when you flip these questions on their head:
Powerlifting
The sport of
powerlifting aims to establish the highest possible total. Your total consists of three lifts. These three lifts are the
bench press,
squat, and
deadlift. For each lift, you get three attempts to build the biggest possible amount of kilograms. The best attempt for each lift gets summed up to your total.
Another difference to lifting in the gym is that you get judged. Three referees sit at different angles to you to observe your lift. They decide whether you have performed the lift according to the rules of the federation you are competing in. You need two of the three referees to approve the lift to be allowed to count it towards your total.

How to get ripped
Many people get this one competent arseways. Getting ripped is not about going crazy in the gym. Abs are made in the kitchen and not on the gym floor. Your abs will show when you get below 10% body fat. Yes, bigger muscles will show up more massive when the fat subsided, however, the main point is to reduce the fat.
Will powerlifting get me ripped
No
powerlifting will not get you ripped. A carefully planned and executed
diet plan will. Believe me, it will suck. Either you will starve yourself or stuff your face six times a day with boring food while training like a mad man.
