What is your why

Before we go into the details of how many repetitions you should do with a barbell, let me ask you a couple of questions:

  • Why do you want o train with a barbell
  • Why do you want to get stronger
  • Why do you want to build muscle
  • What happens when you do
  • What happens if you don’t

These questions matter when it comes to your long term success. Life will get in the way of your goals, dreams, and ambitions. You have to be ready with a good outlook on your desires to stay in track. Otherwise, life will take over and you will lose focus. Sitting down to reflect on why you do the things you do will help. Most people go through their lives like this:

  • What do I want
  • How do I get it
  • Why do I want it

Almost everyone knows what they want. Fewer make a detailed plan on how to get it. Almost none dig deep to find why they do the things they do. If you let your life be guided by what you want you will get nowhere. What you want cha he’s hundreds of times a day depending on whom you see, what you do and where you are. Something interesting happens when retesting happens when you flip the running order of these questions on its head:

  • Why do you want something
  • How do you get it
  • What do you need to do to get it

This way you will focus on your innermost desires to get things done. Your thoughts and actions will become more connected and result in better outcomes and happier life. If you want to know how this works on a psychological level read Daniel Kahneman's thinking fast and slow. Also, check out Simon Sinek's TED talk on the golden circle. He makes a very compelling case telling the story of the Wright brothers.

Whatever you do, follow your dreams and don’t let life get you under. Stay clear sis tent and positive.
