On the question of intelligence

What is it about our society that we seem to strive for ever more knowledge? Apparently it is best to be the most knowledgeable person who can constantly outsmart your peers at work or give advice to the ones you love. How does that lead to a more satisfied live? How does this lead to more success? This article expresses my current thoughts on being more intelligent or having more knowledge, which in my opinion are not one and the same thing. The following doesn't claim to be scientifically correct, as I would spent my entire life to produce the evidence. I shall call it common sense or logic, even though Spok might disagree. Let´s think deeper.

What will weight lifting look like in a 100 years?

Let´s mix some sciene fiction with something that most commonly is perceived as a dull sport for the not so smart if we believe movie prejudices. Arnold Schwarzenegger definetly did not help by picking a robot and a sword swinging barbarian as his first movie apperances to counteract this prejudice. You might reconsider when you listen to him reflect on how to become successful.

How to solve the biggest problems with running

What we know we should do...

How often did you think about losing weight ? What would you do if you could just get fit ? How great would it be to run 5k, 10k, a half marathon or even run a marathon ? How jealous would the neighbours and old school friends be if you came back to your form from ten years ago ? All these things are running through many heads when stepping on a scale, the doctor says you should excercise more or the favourite trousers just won´t fit anymore. But there are obstacles which we put in our own way to stop us from running or getting healthier.

Can marathoners be good crossfitters ? First steps

The Research

I started out consuming all of the different crossfit videos you can find on youtube. If you don´t know Rich Froning yet, you will after your first hour of crossfit madness. The streams of the different crossfit games are a good way to start. You can also check out the videos of Mikko Salo, if you want your experience to be a bit more european than american. Finally i found the article the 6 most insane WODs. Wod is the abbreviation for "workout of the day".

Starting strength routine: The fran

How to do fran?

The fran is one of the most commonly known crossfit excercises there is. It is simple in its approach and structure and combines just two excercises, thrusters and pull ups into one workout. You will need a gym or a barbell & pull up bar to be able to do this routine.

Can Marathoners be good Crossfitters? The beginnings

Can marathoners be good crossfitters ? The beginnings

Marathoners are people who can endure heat, wind & rain while training for ten weeks to a full year to reach their goal of finishing a marathon or improving their personal best for the 26.1 miles(or 42 km depending on which metrics you prefer). Crossfitters seem to have many of these traits in common. However when you look at the top marathon runners and crossfitters their physiques differ a lot. On one site you have the skinny Kenyan who runs across the desert and, let´s face it, looks a bit undernourished. On the other we have Rich Froning and other athletes with their bulky, almost bodybuilding like bodies. This lead me to the question, if marathoners can be good crossfitters.

How to run a faster marathon ? Be prepared!

Some people set themselves the goal to do a couch to 5k program. Some people go for 10k or ahalf marathon. The selected view go for the full 42K and actually stick with their plan and accomplish it. Now, only an Idiot would challenge his friend, a former track and field semi professional, on his marathon time of 3:41, right? Especially when you are currently overweight and hated running when it was part of your training regime in younger days.

Starting strength routine to get fit using weights

f you prefer to go to the gym instead of training using your body weight outside or at home like shown in this post the 5x5 routine might be a good fit for you. Crossfit and marathon training plans usually incorporate advanced workouts, which are not a good fit for beginners.

Crossfit uses a lot of pull ups in their routines. You might feel like you have to do a little work before you embarrass yourself in front of a group. The 5x5 schedule can be done without any help and at any time without having to attend a class. Pros are the simplicity of the program and quick progression with direct motivation as you lift more in every workout. A downside is that the equipment has to be either bought or gained access to by a gym membership.
