What else to consider from Rogue

Overview of the SR 343

The SR 343 Mach speed rope is the ultimate speed rope from Rogue. Each part has been designed to be lightweight and fast spinning. Taking inspiration from the jet and race car industry everything about this rope has been done tuned for speed and longevity. If you want to go fast, this is your rope. It is also manufactured in the US and has been combined with the Cerakote technology to make it available in multiple colors. The specifications of this jump rope are:

  • Made in the USA
  • CNC Machined, Aircraft Grade Aluminum Handles
  • Premium Nylon Coated Black Speed Cable: 5/64" diameter, 120" length, 38 grams (can be cut down to accommodate user's height)
  • Custom Designed Bearing Swivel for Max Speed, Omnidirectional Movement
  • Lightweight Urethane Grips
  • Textured Bead Blast Finish
  • Total weight: 130 grams (Handle + Cable)
  • Etched Rogue logo in bottom of handle
  • Recommend only for use on rubber or non-abrasive surfaces

Pros of the SR 343

If you are set out to break records this is what you need to get. This also applies if you appreciate high-performance engineering and attention to detail. This is a product Rogue is especially proud of and this is why it is shipped in a special box.

Cons of the SR 343

This is not a jump rope for beginners. You will whip yourself at high speed and wreak a rather expensive jump rope. Great as a gift for someone you know is into double unders as they most likely won’t buy it for themselves. Bad for your kids to play around with or someone who just starts.

Alternatives to the SR 343

Alternatives to the SR 343 are

The SR3 jump rope is the bread and butter model in the CrossFit community. If you are annoyed with the jump rope from the local shop and want to start with double unders, this is the one for you. It is part of many of the Rogue equipment packages and can also be bought in bulk to outfit an affiliate or college gym.

The SR1 jump rope is an alternative to get a bearing jump rope on the cheap. The SR1 also has bearing to make the rope run smoothly but the handles are not made of Aluminium. This makes them lighter and more cost-efficient at the expense of being easier to break.

The Rogue Pro Jump Rope is the ultimate jump rope from Rogue. It combines the speed of the speed ropes with the weight of heavy ropes to create the most challenging and satisfying jump rope experience from Rogue. This product is also fully manufactured in the States. Apart from the price, there is nothing bad to be said about it since its first appearance at the CrossFit 2016 games.

Summary for the SR 343

The SR 343 is the Apex in speed Rogue has to offer and is worth the money. There is only one better option from Rogue which fulfills a different purpose which is the Rogue Pro model. The only thing to say about this is that you probably would not get a Ferrari for someone who did not even pass their driving license.

Rogue SR 2 S Fraser Speed Rope

This is an overview of the Rogue Fraser SR2 which comes in at $44.50. You will see the pros and cons of this jump rope and also learn more about other Rogue Models. This article was originally posted in "Which jump rope to get from Rogue".

Overview of the SR2 Fraser

The Rogue SR 2 Fraser speed rope comes customized with HWPO ingrained in it. The is short for his motto “Hard work pays off”. The SR 2 has bearing for a faster spin and Aluminium handles. This gives it a different feel compared to the SR1 and SR3 jump ropes from Rogue. The specifications of this jumbo rope are:

  • Made in the USA
  • Inspired by Rogue athlete and Fittest Man on Earth, Mat Fraser
  • 5.25" Red Anodized Handles: Aircraft grade aluminum construction, knurl-textured grip (0.625" diameter)
  • HWPO logo on handle knurl
  • 2.3MM Nylon Coated Black Speed Cable (120" length)
  • Bearing Swivel for omnidirectional movement
  • Adjustable end
  • Recommend only for use on rubber or non-abrasive surfaces

It is also one lower-cost options for American made jump ropes from Rogue, if the origin of the products is of special importance to you.

Pros of the Fraser SR 2

The SR 2 has bearing and Aluminium handles. This makes it a good rope to be used with chalk for double unders. If you drop your jump rope often and it is likely that people will step on it, this is a good low-cost option that will take the beating.

Cons of the Fraser SR2

If you want to do trick jumps or you are more interested in the strength rather than conditioning benefits of jump rope training this might not be for you. In this case, you might want to get the Rogue Pro Jump Rope or heavy jump rope instead.

Alternatives to the SR2

Alternatives to the SR2 jump rope can be

The SR3 series jump rope is part of many rogue equipment packages and the best starter jump rope in terms of value for money when it comes to double unders. They are also a cost-efficient option to buy in bulk for your affiliate gym.

The Rogue Heavy Jump Rope is a good alternative if you are into martial arts training. The heavier rope spins slower and trains your muscles more effectively. It is also a good option for trick jumps a la Muhammad Ali.

The Porsche among the Rogue jump ropes is the Rogue Pro Jump Rope. It combines the benefits of the heavy jump ropes with the speed needed for double unders. Introduced at the 2016 CrossFit games it makes a good investment for committed individuals.

Summary of the SR2

The Rogue SR2 Fraser edition is a good option if you prefer Aluminium without breaking the bank with a bit of style. I personally like the slogan “Hard work pays off” a lot. If you don’t like the color or handles you can also go for the Bridges version of these.
