How you can track your marathon and crossfit activities

As an athlete you have a lot of possibilities to track your progress. I recommend to track everything you do as it will keep you alert and make yourself push harder in each workout, because it will bug you to put a number into the system that is lower than the workout before. When you keep track, you will also start planning and having a plan is bringing you to your goal. A goal without a plan is just a wish, always remember that.

I am about to turn thirty, stepfather of two teenagers and work in software sales to give you a bit of background who is writing this review.

Which shoes should crosfitters buy ?

Not really an easy question to answer with the broad portfolio of shoes from reebok, nike, adidas and the likes out there. There are new lines of shoes for crossfitters being developed on almost a daily basis and it is hard to keep up with it to know where your money is spent wisely. This post is an approach, but not an exhaustive source to help you to determine which shoes are best for your need based on my personal experiences.

Why runners should consider crossfit

A picture says more than a thousands words, right ? But a bit more context might help.  I have seen some posts around combining running with crossfit, but not a lot of them with actual results posted. These two pictures are half a year apart.

In the first picture I had run a personal best of 39:52 on 10km in mid 2014 and you can see my medal from the Dublin Marathon 2013 on the right hand side on the mirror which i finished in 3:58 hours in 2013.

The second picture was taken on 30.01.2015 in my local gym after I started a crossfit and powerlifting routine in June 2014 which is still ongoing.

Crossfit Equipment: Dip belt vs. Vest

Dip belts and vests achieve the same thing in different manners: Adding weight to your body weight exercises to challenge you more. If you have limited resources or do not want to fill your house/apartment with unnecessary clutter it might be worthwhile to look into the two options and think about which one to purchase.

Starting strength routine: Advanced tips for 5x5 Stronglift program

The disheartening news is that i start the new year only with 10kg more on my squat then in September. The good new is that I actually get my butt down now and also have bumped up my bench to 90kg 5x5 and my deadlift to 140kg 1x5. If you do not know what the 5x5 Stronglift program is, look it up here.
