Runners who are like Forrest Gump

I personally love the movie Forrest Gump. My favorite scene is when Forrest proposes to Jenni, she refuses and Forrest says "I am not a smart man, but i know what love is". Forrest plays ping, pong, becomes a war hero, owns parts of apple and also runs. He is not the only who crossed a nation on foot. Here are some real life examples of great individuals who run to forget or to further their cause.

The role of steroids in marathon and crossfit

One of the most prominent examples of doping in sports is Lance Armstrong's rise and fall in the biking hemisphere. When egos and PRs are at stake, how far are athletes willing to go ? And for what ? I am personally natural with a few minor exceptions, but I wondered what is out there and how other athletes think about the use of steroids in marathons and crossfit. Here is some of what I found.

My first crossfit G.I. Jane

As I am focusing on getting better on my body weight exercises with Angie, Annie and Barbara, I now tried G.I. Jane for the first time after a Stronglift 5x5 session. It is hard but easy and fun work out to be recommended to anyone who can do 10+ pull ups in a set for at least once. If you can not do pull ups yet, you shuld start with something easier like 100 push ups for time. My first time clocked for the 100 burpee pull ups was 14:29.

My first crossfit Angie

More space and less people in my new gym means time to try something NEW. As I focused on body weight in February doing a lot of 100's of Abmat sit ups, Air squats and push ups, I thought it would be time to try crossfit WOD "Angie". I did it in 28:04.

My first crossfit half marathon row

Usually i lean more towards running than rowing because I can do it outside and also have a change of scenery. However today there was snow and it was damn cold. Me being a sissy i decided to go to the gym and do the scheduled half marathon not by foot, but on a concept 2 rowing machine.

This event was part of the 2013 Crossfit games. Again as with my runs, if I was a woman I would be damn good. But as I am a man, I am reasonably ok. It took me 1:26:47 to sinish 21100m of rowing.

Can Marathoners be good crossfitters:

February 2015

In February I focused on body weight and running, as I had to take care of my elbow which was diagnosed with busirtis (elbow swelling). I took slow and focused in core work, runs, later in the month, when I was off the antibiotics, push ups. Some new personal records fell for this year and I found a new gym I am very excited about.
